About

Trophe is a fashion art project by @adrianjhopkins, a Brooklyn-based writer and Yale-educated historian with career stops in advertising, journalism, and branding, among other fields.

The project debuted in 2023 and its first pieces, released as Editions in the  Masthead Collection, have paid tribute to Black-owned publications whose contributions to American society must never be forgotten.

Edition 1 saluted The Chicago Defender (founded in 1905) for being a beacon of pride despite the throes of Jim Crow, while Edition 2 honored The Woman's Era (founded in 1894) for being the country's first publication published by and for Black women.

In a time where education is under attack, Trophe is keeping the lessons of history alive and well.
